The Yan Stool stands out with its unconventional shape and vibrant color palette. The clear transparent acrylic base contrasts beautifully with the colorful fabric cushion, creating a visually striking piece. The separate cushion allows for flexibility, as it can be easily changed to suit different color schemes or design themes in various interior spaces.
Measuring at a diameter of 465mm and a height of 380mm, the Yan Stool is ergonomically designed to provide excellent seating comfort. The round padded seat ensures a comfortable sitting experience, while the unique shape adds a sense of playfulness to any room.
The Yan Stool is made using molded acrylic, providing durability and a sleek finish. The cushion is upholstered with high-density foam, ensuring both comfort and longevity. The combination of these materials and the attention to detail in the design process result in a high-quality and visually stunning piece of furniture.
The concept for the Yan Stool was initially developed in 2012 during Irene Lim Miaw Shin's final year of interior design studies in Malaysia. The final design was enhanced and completed in 2016. Throughout the design process, extensive research was conducted on shape, material selection, and manufacturing techniques to achieve the desired outcome.
The Yan Stool has received recognition for its innovative design. In 2017, it was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category. This prestigious award acknowledges the creativity and ingenuity of the design, as well as its contribution to improving the quality of life through art, science, and technology.
With its unique shape, vibrant colors, and playful design, the Yan Stool is a statement piece that adds a touch of whimsy and creativity to any space. Whether used in a living room, bedroom, or playroom, this stool is sure to catch the eye and spark joy in those who encounter it.
